Trip Summary

At an impressive 12,533 feet (3820m) above sea level, Cerro Chirripo is the highest peak in Costa Rica and lends to an array of climate zones and biodiversity. Located in the Talamanca Mountains, Chirripo National Park provides multiple peaks to climb, lakes, and high altitude tundra or p√°ramo filled with unique flora and fauna.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1:

Travel to San Gerardo de Rivas, trailhead for Cerro Chirripo. Prepare your bags for tomorrow's hike then join your group for an energy-packed dinner.

Accommodations: Mountainside Hostel

Day 2:

Climb to the base camp for Cerro Chirripo. Today's hike is 14 Km (7.6 mi.) and is moderate to strenuous, depending upon fitness level.
Each day will be spent hiking in the Chirripo National Park and camping at the refugio base camp hostel near the summit.

Day 3:

This morning there will be a 2AM wake up call to have coffee and a snack before heading out to summit Cerro Chirripo for the sunrise. After sunrise, climb down from the summit for a picnic in the valley and then spend the remainder of the day wandering the surround peaks and ridges. *Option to summit Cerro Ventisqueros, the second tallest peak in Costa Rica at 12,507 ft (3812m).

Day 4:

Another early morning wake up call for breakfast and then hike down the mountain back to the trailhead. *Note: Porters available upon request (fees may apply).
Upon arrival, join your group for a well-deserved and incredible feast! Return to San Jose or the destination of your choice (transportation fees may apply).
