High in the Andes mountains, visit the ancient ruins at the Sacred Valley located near the Incan capital of Cusco. Although historians believe that humans lived in the area since 6,000 B.C., it is better known for being very important farmland for the Incan Empire. Its rich soil was a perfect place to plant the crops that nourished the ancient people and was said to produce Peru’s best corn. The surrounding area boasts colorful indigenous markets, historic ruins and spectacular sites of numerous peaks, ranges and valleys of the Peruvian Andes.
